慰安婦


最近、連続して「慰安婦」問題を取り上げている古森さん。ついに、コミュニティー新聞をネタにしだした。しかもだ、イグナシウス・ディンのメルアドまで晒してるわりに、論争の経過がまったくつかめない。ちゅっか、おまいさん一人が理解していたって、それを他人様に伝える技量がなければジャーナリストとは言えないと思いますよ。今回はブログだけじゃなくて、産経の記事にもなってるし、遊びって言い逃れはできません。

のコメント欄でsoudenjapanが羅府新報(The Rafu Shimpo）１０月３日付のジョージ・ヨシナガ氏のコラムを紹介している。眠れぬシーサーさんを煽る形で、古森さんが次のコメントをつけている。

LAS VE­GAS.―Two columns with Vegas date­lines? I must be losing my senses. Well, maybe that’s better than losing my cents.
One advantage in being a couple hundred miles away from Los Angeles is that I can get another point of view of what’s going on. An example?
Well, I saw Mo Nishida’s lengthy piece in the ”Vox Populi” feature in the Rafu so I began to read it, especially since he took a couple of jabs at me.
I found the comments interesting until I got to the paragraph where Mo quoted an article appearing in the Los Angeles Times.
Los Angeles Times?? The only sec­tion of the Times I read nowadays is the Sports page.
The rest of the material both news and editorial comments contain too many biased opinions. Among those who might agree with me is County Supervisor Mike Antonovich.
Mo’s writing was about the “comfort women” issue. The issue seems to be divided between those who support Congressman Mike Honda’s position and those who oppose him.

Here’s one letter which doesn’t agree with either Honda or Mo’s thinking. I will not publish the writer’s name at his request. He wrote:
“George, we have been criticized about our stand on comfort women and should respond. Hey, don’t misunder­stand. I have never defended rape and other atrocities by the Japanese Army. We are talking about comfort women. The two should not be confused. Ac­cording to Japanese historians, comfort stations were set up to minimize brutal­ization of locals. Whatever the truth, the point was that it is not in our national interest to buy into Korean grievances and alienating Japan at a time when we have more than enough enemies out there.

“According to one source, ‘comfort women’ were in a civilian operated brothel in town. The girls were not pris­oners, it was strictly business. Mama-san was Japanese but the girls had been recruited from various countries. None were Indonesians. Eventually the girls were sent back to their home countries. In the meantime, with Japanese soldiers in confinement, income had dried up for the ‘comfort women’ so at their request, arrangements were made for Australian troops to use the brothel, paying in ‘goodies.’ This is quite different from the horror stories of military abductions, imprisonment and gang rapes at comfort stations”

So, Mo, this is another angle on the issue.


ラスベガス−ラス・ベガスの出来事の二段組の記事とな・・・わしが正気を失ったのも無理はない。え〜い、ままよ。金を失うよりはマシじゃ。

ロサンジェルスから２００マイル離れたところに住んでいる利点は、出来事に対して別の見方ができることだ。例をあげろとな？

そうじゃな、羅府新報の"Vox Populi"のコーナーにMo Nishidaの長ったらしい文章を見つけたので、読み始めたんじゃ、きゃつはわしにジャブを二発かましてくれよったものでな・・・

内容はなかなか興味深かったが、それはMoがロサンジェルス・タイムスに載った記事を引用してる段落に行き着くまでの話しじゃった。

ロサンジェルスタイムスとな？　最近はスポーツ欄しか読んどらん。

あの新聞はスポーツ欄以外は、ニュースじゃろうが社説じゃろうが、意見が偏りすぎとる。マイク・アントノヴィッチ郡保安長官もわしと同じ意見なのじゃ。

Moは「慰安婦」問題について書いとった。この問題はマイク・ホンダ下院議員の見解を支持する者と反対する者で意見が割れとるようじゃな。

これから一通の手紙を紹介するが、この手紙はホンダの考えにもMoの考えにも組してはおらん。差出人の男からの要望で、彼の名前は公表はせん。

「ジョージ、おれたちは慰安婦に対する見解を批判され続けているが、それでも反論はせにゃならん。誤解しないでほしいんだが、おれは日本軍がやったレイプなんかの残虐行為を弁護したことは一度もない。おれたちが話題にしているのは慰安婦だ。この２つの問題を混同しちゃいけないんだよ。日本の複数の歴史学者によると、慰安所を建設した目的は、現地住民への残虐行為を最小限にすることだったとよ。まあ、真実がどうれあれだ、肝心なのは韓国人の訴えにほだされて日本を疎んじるなんてことはアメリカの国益にならねぇってことさ。世界にはおれたちの敵がゴロゴロいるってのによ。」

「とある情報筋によるとだな、町にある民間経営の売春宿にいたのが「慰安婦」なんだと。娘たちは虜になっていたんじゃなくて、厳然たる商売だったんだ。ママさんは日本人だったが、娘たちはいろんな国から雇い入れられた。もっともインドネシア人はいなかったんだ。最終的には、娘たちは母国に送り返されたんだが、その前に日本兵が敗戦で収監されたもんで、「慰安婦」の収入がなくなってしまった。そこでだ、慰安婦たちの要望で、オーストラリア軍が慰安所を使うように手筈が整えられた。支払いは「物品」だったんだと。兵士が誘拐して、「慰安所」に虜にして、組織的に輪姦したなんてオッソロシイ話とは全然ちがうってことさ。」

いいか、Mo、慰安婦問題にはこうい見方もあるんじゃ。

わたしもこのオーストラリア軍の慰安所利用のことは知らないんですが（今、手持ちの書籍やネット検索もしてみたが見当たらず、HicksやYuki Tanaka、Hank Nelsonでも情報見当たらず。）、古森さん、反論しろ！と挑発するくらいだから、しっかりとした出所をご存知ですよね。公開してください。


真偽が明らかでない情報に反論なんかしませんよ、普通。
